When Larry Hanson designed Blueberry Plantation Golf and Country Club in 1993, he knew that having an exceptional, yet affordable, golf course would draw golfers from near and far to Southern Georgia. The 18-hole, par-72 course encompasses approximately 200 acres and offers something for players of all skill levels. Since there are four sets of tees, beginners can take advantage of the front tees, while expert golfers can play from the championship tees totaling 6,720 yards. Everyone else can play from the tees between the two.
Golfers will love the natural surroundings as they play at Blueberry Plantation. Covered bridges and a variety of ponds, lakes, and streams provide for both a beautiful setting and a challenge, if they get in the way of a tough shot. The tall pines and shady hardwoods line the rolling fairways and create obstacles, too. There are deep bunkers that protect well-maintained, undulating greens. All-in-all, it is not an easy course, but it is very rewarding.
Blueberry Plantation Golf and Country Club is located in Alma, Georgia. Alma is a friendly, small town with plenty of restaurants and shops. Most importantly, it is the home of Georgia’s Annual Blueberry Festival. The town is just a few hours from everywhere: less than 2 hours from the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, 2.5 hours from Savannah, and about 3 hours from both Tallahassee and Jacksonville, Florida.
There is something for everyone at Blueberry Plantation Golf and Country Club. Of course, the golf course is unsurpassed in South Georgia; however, the practice area is not to be out-done. There is a four-hole, par-3 course that was created to help golfers warm-up or work on a particular technique. There is also a short game area and a driving range. The saltwater pool is perfect for golfers and their families to relax and take a dip after a great day on the greens and fairways. The clubhouse is very inviting and perfect for a snack or cold drink. A fully stocked pro shop, onsite golf lessons from a PGA-certified professional, golf carts with state-of-the-art GPS units, and a golf club repair shop round out the amenities at Blueberry Plantation Golf and Country Club.
Designed by Larry Hanson and opened in 1993, Blueberry Plantation Golf Course was conceptualized with providing a fun and exciting course that would be accessible and challenging for all those that played it. Recent improvements to the design as well as a host of other renovations have come together to produce a truly unique golfing experience that players of all calibers will love.
